Emergency road aid awarded in four counties
$520,000 will replace bridges, repair roads
FLEMINGSBURG , Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear and Transportation Secretary Joe Prather in July announced four rounds of County Road Aid emergency fund awards for repairs to various roads in Greenup, Lewis, Elliott and Rowan counties in Department of Highways District 9.
The Greenup County Fiscal Court is receiving $200,000 in County Road Aid emergency funds for storm damage repairs to bridges and approaches on Hungry Hollow Road , Kenton Furnace Lane , Lowder Fork Road , Big White Oak Road and Hook Curry Road , which serve numerous residences in Greenup County .
The Lewis County Fiscal Court is receiving $150,000 in County Road Aid emergency funds to repair roads damaged by storms . The roads, which serve numerous residences in Lewis County , include Holly Branch Road , Birchwood Lane , Spy Run Road , Fingerboard Road and Dry Hollow Road .
The Elliott County Fiscal Court is receiving $140,000 in County Road Aid emergency funds to replace a bridge on Hamilton Branch Creek Road .
And, the Rowan County Fiscal Court is receiving $30,000 in County Road Aid emergency funds to replace a bridge on Cold Springs Road .
“It is important that we help cities and counties fund emergency repairs to local roadways, because those routes are vital links in the state's transportation network,” Prather said. “Solid transportation infrastructure is vital in all counties across the commonwealth.”
The fiscal courts in each county will be responsible for administering the work, which will make it safer for cars, school buses and other vehicles.
