Traffic now using ‘runaround' on KY 519 at US 60
Diversionary route only temporary

FLEMINGSBURG , Ky. – A diversionary route is now in place on KY 519 at its intersection with US 60 in Morehead.

All traffic on KY 519 must use the short “runaround” roadway for the next couple of months so contractors can install a new culvert and add concrete pavement. The effort is part of an overall $10.6 million project to rebuild 2.7 miles of KY 519 between US 60 and Clack Mountain , which includes straightening, widening and adding turn lanes.

The runaround works like this: Once through the US 60 intersection, motorists will shift to the temporary road, then 300 to 400 feet later will shift back to the existing KY 519 roadway. Travelers coming into Morehead must also use the “runaround,” but in reverse. The intersection itself will remain unaffected.

Traffic delays are not expected. However, drivers should exercise caution as workers and construction equipment will be nearby.
